Selling to a customer
This is for back-office sales (for example wholesale or delivery orders). Walk-in sales at the counter are made on the POS.
| Step | Module | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| 1. (Optional) Take the order | Sales | Nothing yet. |
| 2. (Optional) Receive a deposit | Collection (Down Payment) | Records the advance. |
| 3. (Optional) Pick the goods | Picking List, Inspection Mode | Nothing. Helps the warehouse. |
| 4. Release the goods | Sales Outbound | Stock goes down when approved. The customer now owes you. |
| 5. (Optional) Bill the customer | Counter | Groups unpaid outbounds into one statement. |
| 6. Collect payment | Collection | The customer's balance goes down. |
Step by step
- Take the order. Open Sales and Other Income › Sales, choose the Customer, add products, and approve.
- Release the goods. Tick the sales order and click Create Sales Outbound, or create a Sales Outbound directly. Approve it when the goods leave. If the customer pays now, add the payment with Collection Detail before approving.
- Collect. For credit customers, create a Collection when they pay, or click Create Collection on the outbound. For many invoices, first group them in a Counter and collect the counter.
- Follow up on unpaid balances with Customer Balance and Collection Due Warning.
Credit limit
If the customer has a Credit Limit, CIRMS warns you when a sale would take them over it. See Credit limit.
