Role
A role is a saved set of permissions, for example Cashier or Warehouse Staff. Instead of ticking hundreds of permissions for each user, apply a role.
There are two kinds:
- Template: a starting point only. When you apply it to a user (as the Preset in User), its permissions are copied, and later changes to the template don't affect that user.
- Role (not a template): stays linked to its users. When you change the role and save, CIRMS asks: Apply Role changes to user/s?

How to create a role
Required permission
Data › Role › Create
- Open Data › Role and click ⊕ (Add New Role).
- Enter the Code and Role Name. Tick Template if it's only a template.
- For a role, choose the Branches it applies to, or All Branches.
- Tick the permissions, the same way as on the User Permissions tab. On the printout permissions tab, tick the printout templates users with this role may print with.
- Click Save.
Example. Create the role Cashier for All Branches with the POS-related permissions, the cashiering reports and the official receipt printout. Give every cashier the role (in User, Preset Role). When cashiers must also be able to print barcodes, open the role, tick the barcode printing permission, save and answer Yes: all cashiers get it at once.
Changing and deleting roles
- Saving changes to a role (not a template) asks Apply Role changes to user/s?. Yes adds or removes the changed permissions, in the role's branches, for every user who has the role.
- Deleting a role unlinks it from its users. They keep the permissions they had, which from then on are managed on each user.
